Overhead Coring for Wall Plug Installation

on April 20th 2009, i went to Bintulu to train a customer who bought Hilti DDEC1 complete with DDREC water recycling unit for an overhead coring job.
they want to install a pipe support using Hilti HVU system but the column are rebar infested so drilling with drill machine has no use.
complete set up to do coring overhead. no wall plug needed.

easy to do coring overhead and very easy to move to next coring point.

easy to operate.

but the customer are using it in MLNG2 plant which prohibit me from taking actual application photo.

Suria Sabah Cutting Job

early April i went to Kota Kinabalu to conduct a site training for our new Diamond Service Contractor, Redback Construction Sdn Bhd.
Suria Sabah is a development on a reclaim land at Kota kinabalu, boasting a shopping mall combined with 4 or 5 star hotel.
Currenty there are demand to change the location of teh escalator as shop owner complain that a few escalator are not in their favor as the location of the escalator will tend to make shopper not notice their shop.
big beams with no time to waste makes it a no choice for hacking. so Redback step in to do the cutting thus eliminating touch up needed after the job finish as with diamond cutting you don't need to touch up later.
cut the tile mortar with DCH300 electric cutter and PMC 36 line laser so we can plant drop in anchor inside the concrete, not inside the mortar.


After separating the slab, we cut the beam using the 1200mm saw blade. LP32 proved to be reliable to cut even beams full with rebar.

As you can see, 44 number of rebar with steel link cut through as well. no problem with Hilti DLP32 wall saw system.

DSTS5SE cutting rebar. the electric wall saw are very silent when not cutting. also comes with silent blade if the jobsite cannot endure excess noise level.

After cut, remove the beam with forklift. the supervisor smiled happily as one problem goes away already.

DD EC 1 Overhead Coring

at 20th April 2009 i went to Bintulu to conduct a site training for Amalgamated Steel Sdn Bhd, a contractor installing downstream pipe at MNLG Bintulu. as a fact, it is impossible to do overhead coring as the water will flow down and going into the coring machine and electric shock can injure the operator, not to mention saying bye bye to the coring machine.
anyway, Hilti already develop a way to do overhead coring and for this case, for anchor holes, DDEC1 diamond coring machine is the best. featuring Top Spin technology, the coring is up to 50% faster than normal coring machine.
Hilti develop a system for the user to do overhead coring in such a way the user don't need to install drop in anchor or to use vacuum base fastening.
An extractable stand come with DDEC1 baseplate is used to fasten from bottom floor up to the upper floor where the user want to core. very fast adjustment and very less hassle to the user.
This is how the set up look like.

used with the DD REC1 water recycling unit that will supply, take the contaminated slurry, filter it and re use the water up to 50 holes.

use a ladder for easier access.

the job in MNLG Bintulu i cannot take picture as Oil & Gas facility is very strict on safety. you cannot bring in any spark inducing devices such as camera, mobile phone and such.

anyway the customer happy as this set up makes them work faster.

Alpine Pipe Diamond Coring

Last January there's a demand for coring from Alpine Pipe manufacturing factory. They need to core a lot of holes to accomodate new machines. Hilti TSR, Yvonne Chean already closed the sale of 1 unit DD200 with 23 units of DD-B 202 U4 core bit. so with the big number they buy, i'm showing myself to see everything is in order.

each point takes around 20 minutes as there was T25 rebar 2 layer. combination of consumables and great machine proves the best solution.

Plus Crash Pole Installation

Last wednesday night i went to Sungai Buloh Plus Toll Booth as one of Hilti's customer, Nakhoda Construction are installing crash pole at the toll booth. you see, recently, there was a lot of accidents happening and they are crashing to the toll attendant and actually when a 10 tonne lorry come crashing to the toll booth, the attendant have no chance to escape.
1. he was busy and focusly attending current highway user who are paying so he are not aware of danger incoming.
2. to up and run from the toll booth in a few second is quite hard to do. the booth are small FYI.
so PLUS come with a solution, install a crash pole good enough to barricade the toll booth from potential danger. the fastening to the concrete structure was done with Hilti HSL Anchoring System.
The contractor using Hilti TE 70 Combi Hammer to drill the hole but bith a lot of reinforcement, they switch to Hilti DD EC 1 Diamond Coring Machine.
i'm there as Nakhoda encounter stuck core bit inside the concrete. this is a common problem as we never know what are we hitting inside the concrete.
I instruct them to put water hose inside the core bit and use a spanner to turn it side way until it can move. then only the removal can be done.

University of Nottingham

last week aku pergi ke satu jobsite di semenyih untuk buat demo pada customer bagaimana menggunakan Hilti DD200 diamond coring machine untuk core 600mm depth. purpose of job is to install a bolting to fix lab machinery for university of nottingham. agak besar kapasiti universiti ini. pasni student xyah g ke negland lagi untuk dapat same certificate.
dari picture, kengkawan dapat lihat riak wajah customer yang puas hati dengan performance DD200 ini.

Petronas Penapisan Melaka

last monday aku berada di petronas penapisan melaka, refinery point untuk minyak dan gas asli. selepas menghadiri safety briefing dan mendapatkan safety visa, clearance untuk masuk telahpun aku perolehi.
yang xbest nye, masuk dlm refinery kena tinggalkan hp & kamera and aku xdpt amik gambar untuk ditunjukkan. yang ada cuma pic ni, dgn main con, VSL engineering.
pengalaman di penapisan adalah pengalaman yang baru untuk aku lebih lebih lagi safety amat dititik beratkan di sini...
